People involved with internet advertising and marketing are responsible for coordinating and implementing advertising campaigns on the internet. As this job is primarily concerned with advertising on the internet, candidates are expected to have a good grasp of technology and the differing internet advertising and marketing strategies used.

Those who are successful in online advertising combine creative thinking with factual analysis to develop online advertising strategies that reach their target audience as effectively as possible and build awareness for the client’s brand.
Those working in advertising on the internet could expect some or all of the following during the course of their job:
• Working with clients to understand their business and formulate online advertising strategy.
• Working with the creative team to think creatively about ways to represent clients, identify target audiences and their behaviour, develop an internet advertising and marketing campaign and finally present proposals to clients alongside cost and time schedules.
• Identifying the optimum online advertising locations
• Working with colleagues including sales and buyers. These could be both in house and external colleagues.
• Making and maintaining good contacts with other online media outlets such as print and broadcast and possibly working with them on cross platform advertising campaigns.
• Managing clients to ensure a continued good relationship, resulting in them respecting and trusting your judgement.
• Proof reading and checking any advertising material prior to it going live
• Maintaining good records of advertising campaigns
• Evaluating and reporting on previous online advertising campaigns to management and clients
Because advertising on the internet is a very varied and dynamic business, people working within online advertising will have to be motivated, flexible, proactive and possess the ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
Salaries within online advertising vary but you can expect to earn anything from £16,000 per year for entry level jobs to over £100,000 per year for high level internet advertising and marketing jobs.
