An innovative U.S. law firm requires a Business Development Manager to will work closely with lawyers in London, predominantly, and also the firm's Madrid and Paris offices to support business development efforts in Europe, including all aspects of business development, marketing, communications and PR.
The Business Development Manager will work closely with partners to co-ordinate special projects, including overseas BD trips, external business research initiatives, internal information gathering and reporting efforts and targeted client outreach programs and contribute to regular business development communications with partners including tracking relevant press and market developments. Pitching will constitute an important element of the role with the role holder supporting the preparation of pitches, RFIs and RFPs including research, coordinating collateral and assembling materials, using and sharing best practice throughout the firm. You will also track results and prepare responsive reports and analyses incorporating recommendations for increasing effectiveness. You will be tasked with internal identification of new opportunities to promote the firm to clients and new prospects, with areas of focus including cross-selling, industry and regional-focused initiatives, business referrals, and other relevant areas as they develop. From a communications perspective you will be responsible for editing, updating and maintaining practice marketing materials, such as practice descriptions, lawyer biographies and content for the website, drafting new material as required, and co-ordinating with legal directories regarding reporting and seeking opportunities for communication between directory editors and the firm's lawyers. In addition, you will provide requested research to develop intelligence on prospective targets, industries and markets, identify speaking and sponsorship opportunities and participate in the production and presentation of client development events, analysing resulting data and providing summaries and recommendations to support business development plans.
The ideal candidate for the role of Business Development Manager will be a well-educated, proactive team player, with excellent organisational, communication and I.T. skills allied with strong attention to detail. You must enjoy working with little supervision and under the pressure of deadlines whilst juggling multiple projects and priorities. It is essential that the Business Development Manager has proven professional services BD experience in a similar role and possesses both a strong work ethic and the flexibility to meet the demands of the position.
