Job Title: Head of Sales, Marketing & Client Management

Location: Portsmouth, PO6 Based

Salary: Competitive Package, including car allowance and bonus. 25 days annual leave.

About the Company:

The Company is an international privately owned organisation with significant revenues whose offices are located across 12 countries principally throughout Western Europe.

Originally established as a wholesale insurance broker specialising in affinity and loyalty insurance schemes for the banking and retail sectors as well as for mobile operators.

The Role:

Reporting to the UK Managing Director, the Commercial Director is responsible for leading the development and execution of the sales strategy for both the consumer and commercial brands. This is a senior role within the UK business and will form part of the management team contributing significantly to the development and growth of the company.

You will be responsible for managing the sales and client development teams selling an end-to-end claims administration, repair and fulfilment solution along with insurance and lifestyle customer engagement solutions via existing and new networks to potential clients and prospects.

The proposition is twofold, firstly working with Underwriters and new and existing clients regarding the management of sales and administration services of mobile phone / gadget insurances and warranties.

Secondly, with organisations who are looking to develop and extend the customer lifecycle both in terms of engagement and revenue.

This is delivered through three areas:

  • Wholesale / Packaging- an insurance or lifestyle benefit is embedded into an existing product or service (e.g. credit card or current account) with the partner paying an administrative fee per customer to the company; the partner typically assumes all marketing responsibility
  • Standalone / Up-sell - a benefit(s) is packaged into a lifestyle or protection product proposition that is marketed by either the client or the company to the customer on a monthly/annual subscription basis wherein the company offers an on-going fee income to the partner
  • Hub Services- a fully branded single point of access via one website or phone number to multiple customer benefits potentially provided by different suppliers.

Desired Skills and Experience

Our Client is well regarded internationally in its markets and is considered a leader in affinity insurance services, especially within the mobile telecoms and financial services sector. The challenge is to devise a sales strategy for the UK to both encompass the ongoing development within existing verticals/sectors, along with targeted growth into new verticals.

The remit will include the following:

  • Development and definition of the UK sales strategy both in existing verticals and new opportunities as agreed with the Managing Director.
  • Development, ownership, management and ongoing reporting of the sales pipeline.
  • Identifying, targeting and approaching new business opportunities in a structured targeted approach.
  • Leading the prospect assessment process and aligning client needs with the company's products and propositions.
  • Lead the management of client / introducer relationships to grow the book of exiting accounts, providing the most appropriate insurance and risk management advice / solutions.
  • Leading the development of sales proposals, working closely with the relevant departments including marketing, product and finance where appropriate.
  • Lead negotiations with insurers to obtain terms for clients that accurately and effectively reflect customer requirements.
  • Ownership and execution of the tender process.
  • Negotiating and concluding contracts whilst engaging with the appropriate internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Working with internal teams to ensure the successful implementation of activity before launch.
  • Providing leadership, management and ongoing development of the sales and client teams to support the delivery of consistent and measurable success.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will be commercially astute with a demonstrable track record of business development and have excellent relationships with insurers and commercial businesses. In addition, he/she will be an experienced negotiator, capable of closely managing revenue and cost targets and understands how to manage the component parts of a P&L.

It is important that the individual is comfortable dealing at a senior level within client organisations and building strong relationships with execs and CEO's. They will exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with internal stakeholders in a matrix organisation and be a high impact person.

He/she will demonstrate significant success in developing new and existing business and building strong networks in a B2B environment. Previous experience with relatively complex services, products and propositions would be advantageous as would exposure to outsourced services and multi sector experience.
