We're looking for a commercially minded marketer with experience in a trading type environment, responsible for driving customer acquisition metrics, pulling key value drivers across pricing and promotional strategies in order to achieve both volume and value based metrics.

This is a role working for one of the consumer telco brands, sitting within their trading team and being responsible for a specific area. We've actually got multiple opportunities available here, covering:

  • Retention
  • In-life (looking at value growth opportunities of existing customers)
  • New customer acquisition.

You will be looking after the daily, weekly and monthly trading, owning the plans of action across all channels for your specific area (direct retail, indirect sales channel and web).

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the numbers are hit and where shortfalls are projected, looking to establish remedial plans in order to ensure they're made up. This will include needing to liaise with propositions and pricing teams, looking at rapid offer development and promotion through short-run campaigns in order to drive customer uptake. This can take the forms of incentives, changes to propositions in response to competitor activities or other key value drivers all at your disposal.

But it's naturally not a case of a sale at any cost - as you will also be charged with ensuring value metrics are achieved too, and will need to factor this into any incentives or price led strategies you look to adopt.

As you can imagine this will mean this is a role dealing with a lot of numbers, and so needs you to not only be able to demonstrate commercial savviness, but also an ability to dig into complex ranges of offers, looking at performance/conversion and value metrics, draw conclusions in order to devise future plans of action.

There's huge opportunity to positively impact a P&L within a very fast-paced and dynamic market. Owning the tactical trading roadmap will mean roughly a 12 week rolling view, needing to balance both the immediate need to make up any potential short-falls through short run offers, balancing the offset of margin giveaways with longer term pay-back opportunities too in order to ensure both sell through rates and value is achieved overall.

Naturally any tweak or change to trading plans or customer incentives and the likes will need robust impact assessment to ensure longer term objectives remain achievable.

Key responsibilities:

  • Owning the trading roadmap for the mobile devices and accessories business area
  • Acting as gate keeper and key assessor for all new commercial incentives used to drive change or changes/tweaks to new propositions which affect margin, value and profitability
  • Ensuring all changes delivered into channel are executed seamlessly and achieve an excellent customer experience
  • Owner of the longer-term roadmap for mobile trading plans and releases - which will be the 6 month forecasts - to ensure short-term actions don't cannibalise longer-term objectives
  • Be responsible for weekly trading based presentations to senior business leaders, presenting both the state-to-date and future plans which outline how objectives will be achieved

As you can imagine this will be a very fast-paced environment in a very competitive market with very stretching and challenging targets to achieve. If you're the kind of person who loves the cut and thrust of trading and want to be part of a decent sized-team within the consumer telecoms and technology space, why not get in touch today to find out more?

Role: Commercial Performance Trading Manager - Consumer Technology
Location: Between Reading & Slough
Rate: £55,000 to £70,000
Benefits: Car allowance, 20% bonus, pension, healthcare, life assurance

Experience Required:

  • Industry relevant experience within consumer technology, retail or similar fast moving consumer good environment necessary
  • Have worked in a highly commercial role looking after trading plans for B2C business
  • Able to work with complex data, namely around commercial levers and drivers, and identify the truth of the situation, then create plans of action which are simple and compelling when backed by this data
  • Great understanding of the sales mechanics within a multi-channel environment, how to successfully leverage them to achieve commercial success when developing trading plans
  • Great stakeholder management skills and experience, particular when working in a fast-paced, large-scale business environment
  • Must have the necessary visas to live and work in the UK - sponsorship cannot be provided.
