Communications Officer, Bedford -

An exciting vacancy has become available within a busy communications team for a Communications Officer to help provide a first-class communications service to the customers of a major housing association managing over 17,500 homes and house developer operating between Oxford and Cambridge.

Acting as the principal point of contact for the team and reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Officer will assist in delivering a range of communications via different channels including print and traditional media, digital and social media, and internal channels.

You'll be joining a small team in a fast-paced environment and will have a chance to get involved in a wide variety of activities.

Key responsibilities include:
*Writing content for a variety of digital channels including the staff intranet, websites, email newsletters and social media as required.
*Acting as Intranet Editor and Website Editor ensuring content is regularly refreshed and kept up-to-date.
*Undertake administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the department.
*Commissioning, managing and delivering content from creative agencies.
*Supporting the team to manage the annual staff conference and any other events.
*Acting as a first point of contact for incoming enquiries for the communications team - both internal and external enquiries.
*Commissioning, managing and delivering content from creative agencies.
*Supporting our strategy to grow and develop active and positive social media communities.
*Playing an active role in the team to help promote and enhance the brand.

The successful candidate will:
*Have at least one year's communications or journalism experience, or experience of producing written communications for range of audiences and channels.
*Be an excellent copy-writer and proof-reader, understanding what makes engaging content.
*Be proficient in website and intranet content creation and editing using CMS.
*Be able to interpret complex information and present it in plain and accessible language.
*Have experience of using and developing content for a range of social media channels.
*Have excellent organisational and administration skills with an energetic and positive 'can-do' attitude.
*Be able to work on their own initiative while also recognising when to consult wider team.
*Be able to manage a high, varied and at times demanding and pressurised workload, and prioritising effectively.
*Have knowledge of, or willingness to understand, the housing sector.
*Be a confident communicator and presenter, with excellent listening skills.
