Position: Communications Officer
Location: Godalming, Surrey (45 minutes from London Waterloo)
Job type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £23,000 to £25,000 (dependant on experience)

About the role:
The purpose of this role is to help end factory farming. The Communications Officer will contribute by raising the profile of their organisation by communicating its strategic objectives through engagement with all forms of the media and through the charity’s own communication channels.
You will work as part of the Communications team to raise the profile of their organisation and its messages and take command of the ongoing monitoring, analysing and evaluation of media work. You will input into media strategies and implement elements of our client's celebrity engagement and social media programmes.
The successful candidate will be educated to Degree level or relevant equivalent certification, a PR or Journalism qualification would also be an advantage. With a good knowledge of UK media would will be able to articulate succinctly and effectively our messages to the outside world and will have knowledge of how to use the media to raise the profile of a campaigning organisation.
You will also have a proven track record of dealing with the media, for example in a press office, TV production or as a journalist and a proven record of gaining positive media coverage. A proven experience of using media monitoring services to report on press and social media reach is also essential.
Ideally you will also have experience of giving interviews or media training and have knowledge of farm animal welfare issues. It is also desirable that you have a working knowledge of a European language other than English. Proven experience of using social media in a campaigning capacity would be an advantage, as would the proven ability of dealing with celebrities on behalf of an organisation.
