Insight Manager FMCG – continuous & ad-hoc

Exceptional analytical and insight skills with a really good grasp of continuous retail, consumer panel and shopper data?  Client-side or agency background?  This is a super opportunity to play a central role in shaping the strategy for 3-4 major FMCG brands consumed by millions daily.  In this role, working alongside the brand and commercial teams, you’ll use your skills to cut through insight data - providing evaluation and insight on brand performance, category issues and marketing activity, and flagging consumer, shopper & market opportunities and issues to drive business growth. In this challenging and busy role, you’ll also have the opportunity to work on ad-hoc qual & quant research projects, looking at issues from positioning and innovation to communications development, so any previous exposure to this would be an advantage. [NB: There may an option for some flexible working from home/London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a strategic thought-partner to marketing and the wider business to ensure that the objective voice of the consumer is considered in key business discussions and decisions
  • Working with the insight and brand teams to shape the 3 year strategic plan for key brands, based on genuine consumer and shopper insight
  • Defining insight gaps and research needs to deliver against strategic priorities, ensuring that all findings and insights are translated into clear implications that are acted upon by the business
  • Ensure brand communications are optimised through consumer feedback from initial idea through pre-testing to tracking and evaluation

Skills & Experience Checklist

  • Strong experience of core continuous insight tools including Kantar, Nielsen and IRI, probably having spent some time working in a major agency 
  • Ideally (but not essential) a grasp of key ad-hoc research techniques
  • Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to make clear recommendations based on consumer insight
  • Strong communication skills (written & oral) with an ability to inspire action in others
  • Has the confidence and gravitas to play the role of the ‘objective voice of the consumer’
