Are you looking to deliver real change in how the public can effectively contribute to achieving better health outcomes? Do you have the skill set and experience to lead the use of communications, public engagement, media and marketing to transform the way people use health services and look after their own health? If so, we would be keen to meet you.

We are looking for a dynamic and innovative communications specialist to support the Board and Executive team in building the reputation of NHS North East Essex in ensuring effective engagement with the public to improve their health and well being.

As the Assistant Director you would be responsible for leading and managing the communications and public engagement function, providing expert advice across the organisation, and developing strategies aimed at managing the NHS reputation and persuading the public to contribute their views as to how they can play a significant part in informing and improving healthy lifestyles.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience and a successful track record in media and communications within a complex organisation, strong leadership skills, a high degree of political acumen and significant influencing skills. S/he must also have a flexible approach to moving between strategy and operational activities. Experience of working within the public sector would be desirable.
