Hays Marketing are working in partnership with Walker Morris on an exclusive Head of Business Development opportunity to be based from their Leeds head office. This position is an essential addition to Walker Morris as the role is responsible for identifying, prospecting and acquiring new business for the Firm using innovation and excellent communication skills. In addition to new business, this role is responsible for ensuring new strategies are devised in line with Partnership planning and ensure they deliver the agreed growth targets and improve profitability.

Responsibilities 

  • Work directly with partners, fee earners and the Head of Marketing to develop and implement focused business development strategies for both individuals and teams. 
  • Contribute to strategies for client relationship management. 
  • Liaise with the marketing team and sector groups to identify key topics, themes and legal/sector developments for discussion with clients and prospects. 
  • Bring co-ordination and focus to efforts to develop relationships with intermediaries and referrers. 
  • Effectively co-ordinate the sharing of information and contacts between teams and individuals in order to maximise the value generated from the firm's goodwill by way of cross-selling firm-wide. Lead generation, appointment setting, visiting potential clients/leads, and responsibility for initiating new accounts with relevant organisations. 
  • Maximising all sales possibilities using drive, motivation and acute attention to detail in ensuring all opportunities for Walker Morris are captured and explored. 
  • Suggest any areas not previously explored for generating new contacts and business. Interact with other departments of the firm as and when necessary. 
  • Represent the firm professionally and effectively at conferences, seminars and industry events to help gain new business leads and contacts. 
  • Maintain an awareness and understanding of Walker Morris' market position and competitor activity, nationally and internationally. 
  • Be responsible for leading, progressing and implementing the Firm's Key Client Development Programme and providing guidance to the partners and fee earners. 

Person Specification 

  • Strong track record as a business development professional. 
  • Relevant previous experience gained within professional services. 
  • Ability to build strong relationships and manage multiple senior stakeholders. 
  • Ability to develop key client accounts and proven ability to generate new revenue streams.
  • Pro-activity in presenting ideas and innovative solutions for successful business development and be able to persuade and influence partners to those initiatives. 
  • Sound commercial awareness and an understanding of the Firm's business and clients. 
  • Good judgement which avoids conflict with professional or regulatory requirements, and achieves effective commercial solutions for the firm.
