Head of Development (Fundraising)

A remarkable opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional has arisen within our Corporate Marketing team. As Head of Development (Fundraising) you'll work to secure philanthropic income by leading a small, effective team to achieve the university's fundraising goals and to plan and deliver a range of fundraising programmes. This is a key position that will be required to provide the vision and skills to manage the fundraising elements of a number of key projects across the organisation.
The Head of Development is an exciting and challenging role, with accountability for key areas of fundraising across individual giving, major donors and bequests, and other areas including grant proposals. The role will implement the organisation’s new five year philanthropic strategy to meet ambitious targets working closely with colleagues across the organisation. You'll also build relationships with donors by ensuring we create mutually satisfying transactions. You'll drive a new and innovative approach to fundraising with a focus on enhancing the institutions digital donor experience, and look for new opportunities to deliver on donor acquisition and engagement.
With a higher degree or relevant professional qualification at postgraduate level (chartered where appropriate), you'll have a proven track record of growing fundraising revenue. You'll have experience of effectively leading a development/fundraising team and of planning and implementing fundraising strategies. You'll have project management experience and of planning and attending networking events. You'll have managed budgets, conducted prospect research and written effective proposals, as well as experience of face-to-face fundraising. Excellent networking, management, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Travel to our University sites and elsewhere to attend networking events and donor meetings will be required.
