In line with our planned business growth we are now looking to recruit a Head of Scan. Reporting to the Business Unit Director, the successful candidate will be accountable for the delivery of all aspects of the product lifecycle management.

This includes market analysis, future product direction, value proposition development, pricing plans, business planning, forecasting, supply chain management and end of life. The role will indirectly influence and lead a team of scan specialists and will work closely with the sales, pre-sales, marketing communications and service teams as well as the design centre. This role is based out of offices at Westside, Hemel Hempstead with regular travel across EMEA and Japan several times a year.

Key responsibilities:

Market Analysis

  • Working in conjunction with the Market Research team, deliver a clear understanding of current and forecast changes in the market size, share, trend and therefore the implications of these changes to the potential sales of Business Unit
  • Gather, understand and communicate the overall solution marketplace including key technology providers, stakeholders and competitors
  • Utilising data provided by the Market Research team and feedback from Sales, track competitive environment across the EMEA market and sales to the end customer
  • Recommend all promotional activity in the Business Unit ensuring strategic and tactical promotions to maximise sales

Market Development and Growth planning

  • Develop and recommend product / solution plans for the Business Unit marketplace with the potential to create exponential growth in revenues in mid-term plan timeframes
  • Review the market direction and identify new revenue opportunities in emerging segments
  • Create robust go to market plans by segment/region, in conjunction with business management & sales

Customer

  • Accountable for the customer profiling and value proposition development for the Business Unit
  • Working with the Market Research team and local product teams, gain an insight and understanding of the customer profile for the Business Unit. The understanding will include the market segment and resulting 'customer value' to ensure a correct understanding of the customer requirements

Product Planning

  • In conjunction with Seiko Epson Corporation responsible for identifying the value propositions for all elements of the value chain, including Customer, Reseller / solution partner, distribution and any other partners (e.g. ISV's) of the products to be launched
  • Through the team of Product Managers track the price/features/solutions of key competitor products and use this information and technology developments as inputs to plan future replacement products to the range of products responsible for
  • Responsible for the proposal and agreement of future Volume/Revenue/Profit plans based on knowledge of market and range of products

Commercial Conditions

  • Using high level commercial understanding recommend the RRP for the Business Unit ensuring effective alignment of pricing and discount structures
  • Use the market tracking information to ensure the correct price positioning is set, relative to competitor products for the range of products
  • Propose changes to the commercial policy based on market feedback of competitive 'go to market' tactics.
  • In addition must have an excellent understanding of (and will contribute to) the Commercial Policy (pricing group, discount structure etc) applicable to the Business Unit

Launch Preparation

  • Accountable for all aspects of launch preparation, for the range of products ensuring that the necessary actions are taken by the team
  • Project Manage the launch preparation process with the product management team, ensuring all launch documentation is complete for the range of products
  • Ensure the update of the ERP system (SAP) and product database (Neon) are carried out by the team as part of the launch project for all products
  • Responsible for briefing Marketing Communications for product launch

Stock & Sales

  • Accountable for forecasting, stock planning and phasing in/out for the Business Unit using an overview of the input from product management team
  • Working with the local sales companies to understand channel and market conditions, develop the sales forecasts for the range of products
  • From this forecast work with the material planning team to develop stock plans ensuring optimum stock holding to maximise sales and minimise stock holding
  • Responsible for the range of products, effectively plan the transition of one product to its successor ensuring the efficient stock management of phase out and in phase
  • To be responsible for forecasting, stock planning and phasing in/out for the assigned product range using an overview of the input from product management team

Management

  • Manage central resource directly and lead/influence resource in the Epson Sales Companies
  • To carry out recruitment, appraisal and objective setting for direct team and ensure training/coaching is provided for managers
  • To ensure that the team is motivated and aligned to ensure achievement of group objectives

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and influencer who is able to bring their strong knowledge of the scan market to our business. Applications are welcomed from Senior Leaders with strong scan knowledge gained within the IT industry:

  • Have an excellent knowledge and understanding of relevant Epson markets, solutions, competitors and technology trends
  • Graduate level education in a technology or marketing background or equivalent
  • Previous experience of managing, coaching and developing a team of professionals, including influencing in a matrix environment to deliver results through not direct resource
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to network
  • Numerate with attention to detail, analytical and enquiring
