The opportunity

We have now been tasked with assisting the business to find an individual who will be responsible for promoting a data-driven approach to marketing. As well as this, you will be critically analysing results to identify possible opportunities within existing and new markets and sectors. Following an office relocation and due to recent rapid growth, you will be part of the team whose remit is to increase the online learner portfolio to twenty million users over the next 4 years. Your duties will include the following:

  • Identifying and understanding key competitors’ products and service
  • Carrying out competitive analysis of industry sectors, maintaining competitor files and library
  • Assessing and communicating actionable findings with a view to supporting the marketing team to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Assisting in identifying, quantifying and defining market opportunities for products within existing market sectors and openings in new market sectors
  • Managing the formulation, distribution and analysis of internal and external customer surveys

Candidate brief

Our ideal candidate will have a proven background in market research, both in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, ideally within a high-volume market. You will have excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise campaigns in accordance with the company’s strategy. A detailed understanding of SQL, data visualisation software and statistical analysis programs would be very beneficial. And, very importantly is a person with a commitment to achieving departmental and company goals.  It would also be great if you have a personality to match.

You provide thorough and detailed insight when presenting research to stakeholders at all levels - engaging and listening is a natural part of your approach to understanding changes and opportunities in various markets.

You have demonstrable experience in actively going out to market, using various qualitative and quantitative research methods.

You have a sound understanding of web survey and analytical tools.

You thrive on analytics – being able to use them constructively in your proposals.

You have integrity and can easily identify which research methods will work dependent upon the target audience.

In the past 12 months, you have consistently achieved your targets and met expectations set.
