Marketing Officer – fixed term until July 2019 Department: Marketing Location: Portland Place, London Fixed term contract until 19 July 2019 We are seeking an experienced, professional and motivated Marketing Officer to join our Marketing team at the Institute of Physics.

We are a charitable membership organisation with a worldwide membership from enthusiastic amateurs to those at the top of their sector in academia, business, education and government. Our purpose is to gather, inspire, guide, represent and celebrate all who share a passion for physics. And, in our role as a charity, we’re here to ensure that physics delivers on its exceptional potential to benefit society.

You will be joining us at a time when marketing has never been so important. As we implement a new membership structure, a new digital strategy and prepare to move to our new home in King’s Cross, we are seeking an individual with some experience in marketing to help us build a contemporary membership organisation and a marketing function that is fit for the future.

The role This is a varied role that covers all marketing channels. It has a particular focus on the recruitment and retention of Associate Members. Primarily you will manage our student campus ambassadors and work with designers to develop, distribute and analyse marketing campaigns. Furthermore, the role involves:

• Coordinating our presence at national events for the purpose of member recruitment

• Writing, editing and proofreading copy for marketing materials

• Assisting with the management of online tools such as Google AdWords, Google Analytics and HTML email marketing software

• Providing multichannel marketing support to colleagues across the organisation. Travel in the UK and ROI and some overnight stays will be required.

The person we are looking for an approachable and pro-active individual. You will be supporting teams across the organisation, so you must be confident working with colleagues at all levels. This is a busy and varied role, so you must be comfortable with managing projects simultaneously. You will need solid written and oral communication skills. A degree and/or marketing qualification is desirable, but we would rather see evidence of your varied experience in marketing, particularly email marketing, managing exhibition stands at events and developing marketing campaigns. The role would ideally suit someone with a few years’ experience in marketing who is interested in further developing a broad range of marketing skills.

Why work with us? In addition to a competitive salary and professional development opportunities, we offer employees a comprehensive benefits package including an excellent pension scheme, private medical insurance and generous annual leave. We also offer a range of other benefits including childcare vouchers, gym membership and interest free season ticket loans. Salary: £26,173 - £27,481 p/a plus excellent benefits Grade: C Closing date for applications: Midnight on Monday 9 October Interview date: 18 or 19 October The Institute of Physics is an equal opportunities employer. We request no contact from agencies or media sales. For further information on this role and to apply please visit the IOP jobs website
