Principal Data Scientist - Start-Up global function
This role is part of a newly established nimble and highly technical team of data scientists and engineers, created to develop the already invaluable data assets of this leading loyalty consultancy. You will manage one direct reporting, so management experience is expected, although not essential.
You will have the best of both worlds, working in a start-up style function with multi-million pound backing from an already established name in the data and loyalty space, delivering cutting edge predictive analytics to some of the UK's leading brands and retail names.
As experts in targeted marketing, and personalisation my client realise that working with transactional data is no longer enough, so they plan to utilise and purchase other data around customers' digital footprint (social media etc.), environmental context (what was the weather like that day? Where were you?) and personality (hobbies, holiday choices etc.) in order to provide their clients with a truly 360 degree view of their customers.
In order to succeed in this team you need to be able to work autonomously, sometimes with little direction from the business, with a solutions focus and ability to build relationships with key stakeholders from across the company.
Your background will be statistics and predictive modelling, and you will need to have already worked in a similar capacity in a Big Data environment, familiar with the relevant technologies such as Scala, Spark, Hadoop, Python etc. and using Bayesian techniques.
You will drive the agenda for this cutting edge project, working closely with IT and the Data Engineers, as well as key stakeholders in global regional teams who are already conducting data science work - leading on projects and working to make a name for yourself in this global business.
Fundamentally you must have skills using SAS OR R AND SQL for predictive statistical analysis and modelling work.
