Project Manager - Bereavement Services - Richmond - £26,044, plus outer London Weighting of £1,729 pro rata - 6-month fixed term contract.

Lamb Personnel are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our client, a bereavement and support charity based in Richmond.

You will be working on charity projects that offer councilling and support to people suffering from bereavement. You will need to show knowledge and understanding of the ethos and values of the voluntary sector and the needs of volunteers.

Hours of business: Monday to Friday 9.00 - 17.00


Essential Responsibilities & Main Duties:

  • Project management (within an organisational setting)
  • Delivering projects to the desired outcomes and within quality, time and costs
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes
  • Developing and implementing operational plans including setting and meeting targets and key performance indicators and producing management reports

Desirable Skills:

  • Managing bereavement services and/or supporting bereaved people
  • Working with groups of the population who are traditionally marginalised from decision making processes and access to services
  • Providing counselling, telephone or email support services
  • Training or facilitating group work
  • Supporting families in crisis
  • Providing support to bereaved people.



  • Knowledge and understanding of the ethos and values of the Voluntary Sector and the needs of volunteers
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the impact of bereavement on people's lives
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging communication technologies and their use in providing support services


  • Knowledge of the needs and issues of bereaved people
  • Knowledge of the impact on people bereaved by suicide



  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Training and presentation skills
  • Ability to work within a team, both as a leader and member of a team and to inspire and motivate others
  • Ability to use appropriate project management tools, skills and techniques to ensure successful delivery outcomes through effective use of resources
  • Ability to network effectively and make successful links, alliances and partnerships
  • Excellent IT skills (including Microsoft Office)
  • Proficient in use of telephony, websites, email and social media.
  • Ability to prioritise work in a demanding work environment with challenging project targets
  • Ability to produce high-quality monitoring information and the ability to evaluate services
  • Ability to function appropriately in an environment where bereavement issues are constantly under discussion


  • Group facilitation skills
  • Prince 2


  • Willingness to travel to meetings throughout the UK which may involve overnight stays
  • Ability to work regular evenings and some weekends when required
