Are you looking for an interesting and exciting Category management role that you can make your own? This could be the opportunity for you and is a brand new role for the business.

My client is a manufacturing business based in Leeds who have won a prestigious new account with a well-known national retailer. This represents a huge success for them due to their ongoing commitment to the quality of the product that they produce, but also the strength of their brand within the category in which they operate.

We are now searching for a Retail Category Manager to work collaboratively with the sales and marketing teams to drive this new business ensuring the continued growth of the account by using the data and insights to make recommendations and gain competitive advantage. Being commercially savvy and using shopper behaviour and gaining an understanding of the category drivers and levers, you are aiming for that competitive advantage.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Develop robust working relationships with key personnel both internally and externally including marketing agencies, data providers, buyers and merchandisers.

Contribute to the Category vision process to ensure that any strategies and tactics are relevant and aligned with business objectives.

Gain an understanding of the category and market through insight.

Develop a joint action plan for the category

Input into customer range reviews / space planning and consumer point of purchase merchandising solutions.

Ensure that the product portfolio is aligned to the accounts needs.

Proactively monitor category data to provide growth opportunities for sales.

Analysis of the competitor market covering price, promotion, range and the shopper experience.

Weekly and monthly performance reviews and draw conclusions.

Your Skill Set:

A demonstrable track record of experience within a Trade Marketing or Category Management role.

Ideally educated to degree level.

Highly analytical and able to offer meaningful interpretation of the data.

Excellent Project Management skills, often managing a number of projects at once.

Great interpersonal and communication skills.

Able to work well within a team as well as independently

A creative flair but also commercially astute.

Excellent Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills.
