Reporting to the BD & Marketing Director, a role has arisen for an experienced Business Development Manager. The purpose of this role is to support the client facing sales and business development activity across the firm's core sectors and services predominantly out of London but also liaising and working with colleagues in the marketing and BD functions in international offices. This role will focus on bids, pricing and business development activity in that order of priority and will form a core part of a new commercial team.
The role holder will manage and execute the flow of formal and informal bids and tenders in the London office and also assist international offices where necessary. You will take responsibility for pitch collateral and toolkits, promoting these and ensuring they are well used and up to date, and take a leading role in managing, interpreting and analysing the firmwide pipeline of opportunities. Acting as a pricing champion for the firm, the Senior BD Manager (Bids & Pricing) will be expected to take a lead on all elements of pricing from the BD side, working closely with finance to form part of a commercial team with responsibility for influencing, driving and ensuring profitability related to specific opportunities whether as part of a bid or in one off instances, promoting pricing internationally and identifying opportunities for pricing interventions in order to enhance profitability and engaging in client facing pricing discussions in support of pricing opportunities. From a business development perspective, you will work with the BD Managers and partners and lawyers to support the winning of new business from existing clients, warm and cold targets, lead generation and client pursuit and will play a part in the delivery of multi-channel, sector based marketing campaigns and subsequently take these to market.
You must have heavy weight bids experience and significant BD and pricing experience gained whilst working in a professional services environment, preferably legal, which has included organising and maintaining a bids and pricing back office and exposure to litigation pricing models including litigation funding options. The Senior BD Manager (Bids & Pricing) must also be resilient with strong management, execution and project management skills, be resilient, have experience of developing and implementing business and marketing plans, including budgeting, experience of working with groups and individual partners to create and roll out agreed marketing campaigns and activities, be forward thinking around upcoming major issues and planning response according to available response and possess experience of working effectively in a challenging and sometimes ambiguous environment.
