An excellent regional opportunity based in the NW has arisen for an experienced business development professional to join a rapidly expanding regional law firm as Senior Business Development Manager. The role holder will be responsible for leading and managing the firm's business development activities around key service lines, to support the achievement of the firm's overall strategic business objectives and growth.
This is a practical and hands-on business development role and the Senior Business Development Manager will be expected to develop and embed best practice business development programmes, campaigns, processes and activities via a multi-channel approach. You will work directly with Heads of Department and key fee-earners to identify, pursue and convert new business opportunities within the firm's target markets and with a cross-service and cross-office approach. Reporting to the Business Development Consultant, you will be responsible for the development and management of firm-wide business development and sales programmes, including departmental BD plans, cross-service product propositions, lead generation, key target management and telemarketing programmes. You will use client and market insight to understand buyer behaviours, needs, preferences and sales triggers and will proactively identify opportunities to maximise return on investment and incremental revenues with both existing clients through the cross-selling programmes and with new clients through business development programmes. It will then be your responsibility to ensure all business development activities are accurately recorded on the firm's CRM system, to enable data quality and accurate pipeline and client reporting. From a marketing perspective, you will utilise elements of the marketing and communications mix to design sales campaigns, communicate with target audiences and support business development activities and initiatives. Coaching partners, providing staff training on business development, new business targeting, bid management and client management and developing the skills, behaviours and competencies of direct reports will also represent important elements of this role.
The firm requires degree educated candidates with a proven track record in a business development role, preferably in the professional services or legal services sector, to include experience of managing bids and tenders and coaching senior partners and of designing and managing business development programmes across client management and new business development. Commercially astute with strong project management and communication skills, it is essential that you work well under pressure and possess the gravitas to be viewed as a highly credible business development expert combined with the ability to diplomatically challenge senior management and influence professionals at all levels.
