* Become a valued advisor to your manager, advising them and helping to develop initiatives that will inject creativity into accounts or deal with issues
* Be recognised as a source of innovative ideas and solutions and am often targeted as a valued brain-stormer
* Have a comprehensive understanding of your clients' brands, their market and the marketing industry generally
* Be aware of the best approach to take for all media - including nationals and broadcast
* Start to grow your role as a strategic advisor to clients
* Build plans to take creative projects/ideas from conception to completion
* Take a key role in internal as well as client-facing creative messaging and strategy sessions
Third Party Influence
* Take ultimate responsibility for driving media/analyst relations programmes on accounts
* Develop your internal reputation as a media expert within all sectors including broadcast
* Provide constant coaching to your team to ensure media relations best practice at all times
* Start to proactively build strong relationships with key influencers both within and beyond the media (e.g. analysts)
* Routinely achieve 'media coups' when placing news stories via Media
Reach
* Take the primary role when recruiting third parties for involvement in client campaigns or one-off projects
* Be well versed in the different types of media evaluation that can offer to measure campaign successes
Writing and Presentation
* Coach the team members you manage to improve their writing abilities
* Become an invaluable 'first set of eyes' to check documents before your manager reviews them for final sign-off
* Write first drafts of quarterly review and planning documents to a high standard - with excellent attention to detail
* Present work done and results achieved coherently and persuasively to clients and colleagues
* Confidently own (write and present) parts of new business presentations with flair
New Business Development
* Demonstrate proficiently to clients and prospects how the model can benefit their business
* Grow your skills at networking and generating lead opportunities within client organisations
* Strengthen your network of contacts within client organisations, outside of your direct day-to-day contact
Planning & Delivery
* Manage at several small accounts simultaneously, from planning through to evaluation of results
* Always keep sight of project objectives and results required, and plan and manage your time to deliver them effectively
* Coach your team to develop their time management skills
* Take a leadership role in all client meetings, ensuring that the team prepares all necessary documentation well in advance
* Anticipate problems in advance and take proactive action to stay on track
Client Development
* Demonstrate understanding of the politics within client teams, and shape your client management tactics accordingly
* Consistently put yourself in the client's shoes before suggesting solutions and offering advice
* Always be alert for opportunities to suggest costed project ideas to your manager
Commercial Understanding
* Consider every client meeting as an opportunity to promote initiatives that would be charged for outside of the retainer
* Successfully negotiate more client budget if over-servicing is anticipated
* Use clients' business and approval methods to maximise cash flow
* Be proactive in discussing with clients what makes their organisations commercially successful
