The Marketing department of this well respected charity is responsible for the promotion of, and fundraising to support the work of, this leading charity in the field of our heritage.
The role?s purpose is to coordinate and implement marketing and promotional activities, in particular print production and fulfilment for the promotion of its core business.
E-communications and the website are increasingly being used within the marketing mix and will form part of this role.
This is a temporary role, a 12 month fixed term contract starting mid to late September
Areas of responsibility
Print production
- To project manage the production and distribution of marketing literature including key publications such as the Newsletter and Pricing info .
This will include:
- planning project schedules and budgets
- managing the production process to ensure all items of print are produced on time and within budget
- liaising internally to develop concepts and briefs, including working with an internal copywriter;
- Proofreading
- To project manage the production of other collateral
- To liaise externally with printers, designers and mailing houses to ensure consistent messages and high standards are maintained in a cost effective manner.
- To maintain and develop relationships with suppliers and negotiate cost savings to minimise marketing spend
- Website and e-communications
- To update regularly the website, including news pages.
- To develop and implement e-communications including the production of ad hoc promotional emails and a regular email newsletter.
- To develop initiatives to increase the quantity of e-mail addresses held on the database to support marketing and fundraising.
- To evaluate usage of the website to inform decision-making.
- To contribute to the development of a new website
Database & Analysis
- To liaise with the IT Officer to segment and extract customer data for use in targeted marketing campaigns.
- To run basic queries to extract customer data for simple mailings and to evaluate marketing campaigns to inform future marketing plans.
- To develop new initiatives to grow the customer database
Other
- To work with the Marketing & PR Manager to develop new initiatives for promotion including new channels and audience segmentation.
- To ensure systems and procedures are in place to manage effectively all print stock.
- To ensure consistent messages and brand identity are maintained across the organisation.
- To work effectively with all departments so that marketing activities are integrated seamlessly across the organisation.
Person specification
Solid marketing background
IT literate and proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Internet and email
Knowledge of print production techniques and fulfilment options
Experience of planning and producing high quality print and publications
Experience of e-marketing and websites
Experience of managing budgets and negotiating with suppliers
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally in both formal and informal situations
Ability to analyse data to inform marketing segmentation and decision-making
Preferably experience of working in a charity
Driving license essential
Office based role in the Berks/ Bucks area
