Job Description

Job Title: Head of Communications, BBC Journalism
Division: MC&A
Based: London
Grade: SM2 

The BBC is looking for an outstanding and gifted individual to lead the communications team for the most respected news broadcaster in the world.  You will provide strategic communications counsel, direction and planning for the BBC Journalism Group, which includes BBC News & Current Affair in the UK, BBC Nations & Regions (including nearly 40 local radio services), which includes the BBC World Service, BBC World Television and an internationally renowned online news service. 

Reporting to the BBCs Director of Communications, youll work with the Deputy Director-General, Director of News, and senior directors to devise and implement an annual BBC Journalism communications strategy.  You will play the leading role in managing the BBCs reputation in this area and will develop and maintain strong professional media relationships inside and outside the BBC.  You will be a senior member of the BBCs Communications team and of the BBC News and Editorial boards. 

You will have an impressive track record of achievement at a senior level in communications, and of leading high performing professional teams.   This will include campaign based PR as well as strategic or corporate communications.   You must have significant front line experience of strategic and tactical communications  at a national level, of managing difficult press issues and of advising and influencing policy and strategic direction. 

You must, of course, be able to demonstrate passion for and knowledge of the BBCs Journalism output and a commitment to its values.
