JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Direct Marketing Executive

Location: Hastings area



1. Job Purpose

  • To manage the day-to-day running of direct marketing campaigns across all the companies product lines, under the supervision of the Direct Marketing Manager.

2. Dimensions

(Indicate in quantitative terms, the key areas on which the job has an impact.)

Financial: Budget is allocated on a campaign-by-campaign basis under close supervision from manager.

Staff: Not applicable.

Others: Working on all core, additional and cross-sell products across all brands, including both online and offline channels.

3. Principal Accountabilities

(Describe the important end results the jobholder is expected to achieve.)

  • Plan and execute direct marketing campaigns within the agreed budget including high volume direct mail, email and door drop activity. Ensuring that quote volume and sales revenue is created for the business.
  • Manage the relationship between the company and external data suppliers, agencies and the mailing house to ensure the efficient operation of the direct marketing process.
  • To maintain internal communication channels to ensure the operational team managers and support staff are aware of campaigns, fluctuations in mailing volumes and promotions.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating campaign effectiveness with specific responsibility for updating performance reports and assisting Manager in analysing the results of marketing activity.
  • Help to ensure deadlines are met and budgets are managed efficiently, liaising with internal staff and external agencies, partners and suppliers as necessary.
  • Take responsibility for accurate proofing of copy and artwork.
  • Manage campaign fulfilment and general customer database requests.
  • Help monitor trends in competitor activity, identifying trends and opportunities and reporting all findings to Direct Marketing Manager.
  • Assist Manager in the maintenance and development of customer documentation.
  • General administration wherever required.
  • Comply with all current legislation and codes of practice within marketing and insurance industries.

4. Context

a) Operating Environment:

Assist in the efficient running of marketing campaigns as directed by the Direct Marketing Manager.

b) Framework & Boundaries:

Adhere to general company policies which are applicable to all employees. Work in accordance to Data Protection Act and other Regulatory codes and statements as they apply to the marketing function. Follow processes and procedures as laid out in the Marketing Procedure Manual.

c) Organisation:

(Attach a copy of a current organisation chart and for each subordinate who reports directly to the jobholder, below their overall responsibilities.)

5. Relationships

a) Subordinates:

Not applicable.

b) Superior(s):

Position reports to the Direct Marketing Manager, operating with some autonomy with regards to day-to-day activities, following objectives set in regular one-to-ones. Contact is usually on a daily basis in order to gain updates on progress made and agree ongoing activity.

c) Other Contacts:

(i) Within the Company:

  • Departmental managers regarding development and project work.
  • All employees regarding queries or issues.
  • Team members for work allocation and assistance.
  • All other departments to ensure provision of timely and accurate results.
  • (ii) Outside the Company:
  • The job holder is expected to maintain close working relationships with key external agencies, partners, and suppliers.

6. Knowledge Skills & Experience

(What kind of knowledge, skills and experience are necessary to enable satisfactory performance in the job?)

Essential:

  • At least 2 years experience within a similar marketing role with a good appreciation of all elements of the marketing mix.
  • Must be PC Literate with good knowledge of word and excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in reporting.
  • Creatively minded with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • A good understanding of the importance of legal and regulatory frameworks.

Desirable:

  • A relevant degree and/or CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing (DipM).
  • A good understanding of the insurance/financial services market.

  • Ensuring campaigns are compliant with the relevant marketing and insurance regulatory bodies.

8. Additional Information

  • Continual account management tasks associated with the invoicing and net name agreements for all of the cold suppliers.
  • The management of the financial elements of the mailing house, printing and Royal Mail procedures.
  • Capable of stock ordering / audit trail initiation, account reconciliation and complaints procedures for current fulfilment offers.
