The purpose of the role is both to increase Direct Marketings share of the advertising market and also the companys share of below the line media spend. The Media Consultant will be a recognised media expert who will grow the use of Direct Mail among a portfolio of the UKs top advertisers. The portfolio will include companies that are existing DM users and those where there is little or no use of the medium.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1)Develop relationships and a reputation with decision makers in the UKs largest advertising companies and brands including large retailers, large banks etc. Use personal networks in the sector who can influence the use of DM in their portfolio of clients. Set up strategic alliances where there is mutual value.
2)Develop and use media and advertising expertise with knowledge about the DM market place and other complimentary media to identify short and long term opportunities to provide new revenue streams. Identify market trends and opportunities to sell standardised as well as new DM products.
3)Seek to understand client needs for DM solutions and offer consultancy expertise to explore needs in detail and propose solutions that can best fulfil client needs and generate new revenue streams
4)Working in pitch teams with other Consultants, Agency and Channel partners and other key stakeholders develop individual and sector sales plans to change clients perception of the effectiveness of DM. Including following up contacts and opportunities over both the short and medium term. Attach priorities to clients and service lines which potentially offer maximum revenue opportunities. Disengage from prospects where sales opportunities do not emerge.
5)Identify new product/service solutions in conjunction with specialists in and outside the group which can be introduced to clients to win new revenue streams and increase the DM share of the total media spend. Provide thought leadership on DM internally and externally.
6)Provide thought leadership on DM both within the group and externally. Attend industry events representing the medium and presenting compelling cases for its inclusion within the Marketing strategy of the top 1,000 advertisers. Use personal networks to best promote the use of DM.
What Were Looking For
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The individual will be recognised as a Direct Mail and Marketing expert they will therefore need to have considerable Marketing and Media knowledge or demonstrate the aptitude to learn quickly.
1.A successful career history within Media, either agency or client side, and preferably supported by formal marketing qualifications.
2.Excellent understanding of how Direct Mail works within a balanced media strategy. Particular expertise is sought on how DM works in conjunction with other media such as TV, Press, Radio and Digital Media.
Excellent influencing skills and can demonstrate the ability to engage and influence at board level in large organisations. Shows presence and quickly establishes rapport at director level. Easily relates and engages with clients business and personal agenda and adds additional expertise to the discussions.
Innovative and seen as thought leader with strong networks within the industry.
Qualifies high-level customer business and service needs to tackle larger business issues that impact on bottom line. Ensures cost of consultancy balanced against return on investment
Seeks and explores multiple customer agendas (often not expressed). Integrates information from different sources to prioritise customer needs. .
Strong network with external strategic influencers. Can demonstrate track record of consistently achieving stretching targets. Is recognised as thought leader within the direct marketing industry.
Ability to close sales quickly and effectively
Ability to plan their approach effectively managing a balanced portfolio of opportunities
Can demonstrate ability to work effectively within a team environment some targets and objectives will be shared with colleagues. Project are delivered working within a true team environment.
