A leading retail bank are currently looking for an experienced senior communications manager - eChannels to join their team. The job purpose is to develop, manage and implement specific marketing communications activities, across a range of channels that support the achievement of the Bank marketing objectives and communications plan.
Customer, Market and communications
Demonstrates a strong customer perspective. Is an expert in eChannel marketing including website development, SEO/PPC and advertising. They will also implicitly also understands brands and their delivery, through these same channels and demonstrate a broad understanding of all other comms channels, such as direct mail.
They will utilise their working knowledge and best in class industry practices to apply this knowledge in the development of marketing communications.
Communications strategy
Draws up recommendations on communications strategy for particular product areas and all e-Channel aspects and submits for approval at relevant internal forums.
Will employ research, insight and measurement to drive strategic recommendations, and ensure that the team is engaged with achieving these goals.
Internal stakeholder management
Can work with Stakeholders to identify and resolve areas of conflict. Proactively avoids conflict by developing strategies appropriate to different stakeholders.
Communications Planning and implementation
Leads the delivery of a range of projects across the e-Channel. These projects may be for a particular product and/or specific media within the e-Channel, such as portals/websites, microsites or advertising. They will require the influencing of internal & external stakeholders and involve substantial and complex supplier management. There will also be interdependencies of budgeting and timing/control requirements.
Communications briefs
Can develop complex e-Channel briefs and if required wider comms briefs, where the information may not always clearly defined, seeking further information from relevant stakeholders.
Creative and media solutions
Able to critique strategy and creative based on in-depth knowledge and can provide a range of solutions. Able to position feedback appropriately and raise issues where necessary.
Management of agencies and suppliers
Briefs agencies on a range of e-Channel requirements, and manages controls, including timing and legal requirements. Likely to manage multiple agencies including digital and media and other suppliers.
Budget management
Contributes to the development of departmental budgets. Accountable for the management of own campaign/development budget.
Communications value and contribution
Based on sound rationale, guide the agencies through strategic and creative development process, providing effective feedback and also adhering to brand guidelines.
Understands and applies online measurement techniques and also has a deep understanding of online tools and measurement packages. Seeks to resolve issues on measurement.
Understands evaluation feedback and communications impact across multiple e-Channel areas, implementing changes to improve results. Able to accurately interpret information, and identify links and relationships within a range of complex information. Is clear what communications have contributed to the campaigns.
Brand and customer experience
Understands brands and how they are delivered and expressed through online and also all comms channels.
Addresses and resolves issues arising where e-Channel activities are not aligned to the brand. Understands brand equity and seeks opportunities to develop it.
Recommends research and insight techniques to better understand the brand, our customers journey through it, and then applies those findings to e-Channel comms strategy.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
Sound knowledge of theories and strategies relevant to e-Channel Marketing and Communications, likely to be gained through education or a professional qualification.
Sound knowledge and understanding of e-Channel communications and broadly all comms channels too. Also understands brands and retail through work experience gained.
Scope of Role
Key relationships/interfaces - Typically senior managers of teams or departments and agency account managers, directors, planners, and creatives.
Independence Fairly independent, pro-active reporting to Senior Manager
No of staff managed 1 (with 2 staff reporting into the person managed)
