Our client, a leading global investment bank are currently looking for a translator/writer to manage and co-ordinate tasks relating to the translations of articles; writing new articles- in both German and English - for group internal communications channels.
SPECIFIC
Editorial staff within Group Internal Communications write for the Banks main internal communications channels. The Translator/Writer role involves the checking and editing of translations carried out by external parties, as well as direct translations from both German to English and English to German. In addition to the translation tasks the role also involves writing in a variety of styles, including news reporting, feature writing, attending conferences/events and often interviews with senior management. Furthermore, editing of other writers texts will also be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES (current role; this is expected to evolve)
· Translation tasks, including checking translations from external agencies to ensure they are of a high quality and in line with style guidelines, and the translation of own work and other team members, when required.
· Management of daily German news flow. This will require liaising with Regional German Internal Communications team and various business units throughout the Bank.
· In consultation with the Editor, advise business divisions and divisional functions on best practice writing guidance and the appropriateness of content for the portal; assist business units with writing and/or editing of content when required.
· Generate ideas for, write and upload high-quality content onto intranet.
· Liaise closely with the local press office to understand external communications issues and how they impact the internal communications priorities.
· Monitor external news sources to ensure that whenever possible the internal audience hears of important developments in as timely a manner as possible.
· Meet and develop relationships with peers throughout the Bank.
· Write, periodically, articles for Forum, the Banks magazine
· Editorial support for specific corporate events, for example quarterly results announcements
· Contribute to the development of Group Internal Communications channels as appropriate
EXPERIENCE/
QUALIFICATIONS Candidate should be fluent German with
experience in journalism/writing, and a strong knowledge of the financial services sector.
Previous experience and qualification should include:
· Journalism training in both online and print media
· Excellent command of German and English
· A strong understanding of the financial services industry
· An ability to deal in an economical timeframe with highly motivated, professional people
· Versatility able to write in different styles and to word count requirements
· Relationship management must be able to build close relationships between Group Internal Communications and the business representatives
· Must be able to prioritise numerous task in what is often a fast-paced environment
· An understanding of editorial planning
· Good understanding of internal communications and its strategic aims
