Job Description

A leading financial services company in the Southampton area seeks a talented Corporate Communications & PR Executive to join their marketing team.  The purpose of the role is to positively raise the profile and market awareness of the company's general and life insurance propositions in the UK by planning, co-ordinating, implementing and evaluating effective corporate communications and PR activities in line with the predefined corporate communications strategy and budget.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

- Plan, implement and evaluate PR activities aligned to the predefined Corporate Communications strategy, which positively communicate the key messages at a UK and subsidiary level.
- Co-ordinate the appointed PR agency to deliver effective media relations that secure favourable coverage in the trade, national, news wire and local press, and meet the objectives of the PR strategy.
- Monitor and evaluate issues that have the potential to damage the company's reputation, recommending and implementing an agreed course of action to mitigate the reputational risk.
- Identify and develop a range of core themes that support the communications programme and brand values and can be used by the business lines in communications activities.
- Initiate, produce, distribute and maintain up-to-date corporate communications materials (e.g. corporate presentations, bi-monthly newsletters) in line with the predefined corporate communications strategy and Fortis group guidelines.
- Act as a communications account manager for the the company's subsidiaries and stakeholders, supporting their communications requirements and ensuring consistency of messaging and alignment with the predefined communications strategy.
- Support the company's partners in the development and execution of their PR activities, ensuring accuracy and consistency with the company's key messages and predefined communications strategy.
- Identify synergies with the all communications activities to ensure a co-ordinated approach in raising the company's brand profile.
- Co-ordinate and produce internal communications for group publications, aligned with the external communications plan and UK internal communications plan, to positively raise the profile of the businesses within the group.    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Communication exceptional verbal and written skills. A highly effective communicator, exhibiting good questioning and listening skills. Strong copy writing skills are essential for this role.
- Building relationships Interpersonal skills to enable effective communications and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Day-to-day communication with subsidiary business lines (including MD level). Demonstrates flexibility within the team and with the UK businesses.
- Managing self Ability to manage a diverse workload, prioritise tasks and ensure deadlines are met. Demonstrates personal commitment, acts with integrity and displays and open and trustworthy attitude. Must be confident and pragmatic and be able to influence senior people within the business.
- Essential experience Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the principles and practices of Corporate Communications, with confidence of applying such activities. Solid PR/communications experience, implementing and evaluating PR strategies, preferably in the financial services sector.
- Information Technology Knowledge and capability of Microsoft Office and PowerPoint skills are essential. Experience of using PR databases desirable.
- Numerical Able to interpret statistical information, analyse and report on data.
- Essential qualifications Professional Marketing/PR qualification or equivalent.
