We are seeking to recruit a Sales & Marketing Assistant to ensure the Union meets the challenges of delivering high quality services to an increasingly diverse student population. This is a very exciting and challenging role with opportunities to develop your skills in an exciting environment. The successful candidate will have some experience and skills of working in a Sales, Marketing & Event environment. You will be working to targets, tight deadlines and incleasing our client database. Job purpose: You will be responsible for supporting the Marketing Department including generating income, event management and the co-ordination of internal and external promotional material/activities with a view to contributing to the effectiveness of the union. Specific Duties: Marketing & Promotion Work with the print shop to co-ordinate the development of marketing materials, promotional brochures and other literature for the Union. To ensure the effective promotion of the NUS Extra card to local businesses and students to increase sales. To promote the Students Union to different departments within the University and to actively build relationships. Income Generation: To sell advertising for a variety of Students Union media including Pluto, stall hire, web, meeting targets set by the Marketing Manager. This includes liaising with current advertisers to maximise income and actively seeking out new businesses and opportunities. Develop (web address removed) . This includes keeping the website upto date, liaising with advertisers on a weekly basis, working with the Digital Communications Co-ordinator to keep the look and feel of the site relevant. To contribute to the successful and profitable development of this service to students. To co-ordinate all Freshers 2011 sales. To work the Marketing Operations Manager to increase sales from year to year with the NUS Extra card. Maintain Client Relationships: To maintain and grow the marketing departments contacts database and ensure that information is up to date. Develop relationships with external businesses through attending meetings and networking events etc. Ensure regular contact with key student marketing agencies including BAM, SMG etc to maintain good working relationship. Event Management: To play an active role in the organisation of Freshers events including the annual Freshers Fair. To assist other departments in the co-ordination and promotion of their activities, campaigns and events. Research into developing Union networking events with a view to raising the profile of internal departments within the local area. Finances and Resources: To ensure best price when outsourcing work Working to set targets when selling advertising Customer Care: To offer the highest possible quality customer service General To undertake duties with full regards to the University of Central Lancashire Students Union policies. To undergo training as appropriate to the role Other duties as might be reasonably requested appropriate to the grade and responsibility for the post.
