PR Manager / Communications Manager (Not for Profit Sector) Berkshire £27K
Position: Communications and PR Manager
Location: Crowthorne, Berkshire
Salary: £27,000
Benefits: Pension, and generous contractual sick pay scheme
CLIENT:
Our client is the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) a rare genetic skin blistering condition.
Our client is a registered charity (no. 1084958) and promotes equality of opportunity for all.
ROLE:
To lead the PR and Press function, developing and implementing the Communications strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Manage our clients media relations, developing strong links with press contacts.
b) Initiate and maximize PR and media opportunities.
c) Develop awareness of our client to the media and general public.
d) Expand and strengthen our clients case studies portfolio.
e) Optimise income through donor development, by initiating and contributing to marketing campaigns, in conjunction with the Database Manager.
f) Develop marketing and promotional initiatives.
g) Market and promote our clients events.
h) Identify and implement ways in which to enhance internal communications.
i) Maintain and develop our clients website.
j) Manage the production of our clients publications and monitor stock levels.
k) Liaise with all functions within our client, in particular key members of the Fundraising team.
l) Manage the Communications team (Manager plus two members).
m) Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act, in relation to the information that our client holds on supporters.
n) Manage the allocated budget for Communications and PR.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Previous experience of working in PR related role.
b) Achievement oriented ability to set targets, overcome obstacles, and work with enthusiasm, engaged with our client's vision and purpose.
c) Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to skilfully negotiate and influence others, and build good working relationships internally and externally.
d) Excellent oral and written communication skills.
e) Efficient IT skills, including knowledge of website management.
f) Adaptability openness to new ideas and ability to prioritise conflicting demands.
g) Positive disposition, demonstrating self motivation.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
a) Any experience of working in a charity or not for profit organisation is highly desirable.
