Our client, a national charity, is looking for a Press and Public Relations officer. This role will involve close liaison with the Head of Communications to identify and develop a range of media and public relations activities to position the client as a leading charity.
The role's responsibilities will include identifying media opportunities and executing campaigns to enhance the organisation's reputation and ensuring the charity's key messages effectively reach target audiences. This will involve providing a professional press office service comprised of writing news releases, promoting these to the media and dealing with media enquiries.
On the Public Relations front, the role will involve working with existing celebrities as well as identifying new figures who could become ambassadors for the charity. As well as this, there will be an expectation to ensure the organisation's corporate identity is effectively and consistently promoted through developing content and overseeing the production of PR materials.
They require a candidate who has demonstrable experience of writing clear, accurate copy for a range of communications materials. Essential skills include an excellent command of the English language, in particular strong writing, editing, spelling and proof reading skills and ability to write accurate, snappy news releases and copy. The ability to develop good working relationships with a wide range of people, including journalists, medical experts, MPs and celebrities is important.
