Our client is a privately owned business based in S.E.London, importing and distributing speciality and fine foods, both chilled and ambient. The company has shown growth of over 15% per annum for the past few years and profitability has increased at a faster rate. The company operates through 3 channels; Foodservice, Ingredients and Retail & has a turnover of £40m
Their brands encompass a range of high quality imported speciality ingredient products. The range has recently been completely redesigned and the new look has been well received by trade customers and consumers alike. The range is backed by press advertising and a PR campaign, and the company recently embarked on an experiential marketing programme, with sampling at consumer shows such as Taste of London, BBC Good Food and Spirit of Christmas being key highlights.
This is a challenging and enjoyable role for the right candidate, who will have responsibility for all marketing activity on the branded portfolio. The Product Manager will report to the Retail Director and have full budget responsibility for all marketing activity and will coordinate PR, advertising and exhibition activity. The role will also involve working with the marketing executive on the day-to-day running of the core brand's website.
Other key activities will include working with journalists and food writers to generate features for lines, working with the sales and NPD teams to launch new products, assisting with packaging design on new and existing lines. Ad hoc projects with other divisions from time to time - foodservice and manufacturing are also part of the role. Occasional overseas travel to see suppliers will be involved.
The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level and will have a minimum of 3 years FMCG experience, preferably in food or drink and, ideally within a blue chip organisation.
An obvious passion for food would be a huge advantage in this role. An ability to demonstrate intuitive marketing skills and a track record of implementing successful activity in previous roles will be essential. Candidates must have the confidence and presence to negotiate hard internally and externally - outstanding interpersonal skills with great verbal and written communication. Quick progression will be offered to Senior Brand Manager and then Marketing Manager for the right candidate.
