Job Description

WorldStores is one of the UKs fastest growing ecommerce companies, operating a large number of unique specialty websites and is now developing an online super-hub for the Home & Garden sector. All this contributes to c£40 million sales and plans for further growth are ambitious but achievable.

Although marketing focus until recently has been strongly on customer acquisition, the company has built up a substantial customer database - and email marketing activity to existing customers has been progressing well.

To build on this progress, we are currently looking for an Email Marketing Manager to work with our recently recruited Marketing Director. The job includes two main elements:
a) Selling products and maximising sales by managing the creation of compelling email broadcasts. We are looking for a real email trader with great comms skills.
b) Working closely with the Marketing Director on the customer retention strategy and owning and managing the customer database.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative email/retention marketer with good customer insight skills to make an impact in our fast paced but fun environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the implementation of all email marketing activity, devising campaign themes based on commercial retail needs. Brief in templates and design themes and write simple selling copy.
Segment the database to maximise relevancy and return on email broadcasts. Control all customer selections and be able to interrogate a database in order to extract an optimal mailing list.
Liaise with the trading and product content teams to ensure email campaigns are commercial and relevant.
Liaise with Customer Service and Operational departments.
Maintain a promotional calendar of activity.
Work with third party Email Broadcaster (currently EmailVision) and be comfortable generally with third party email back-end interfaces. Have the ability and know-how to add lists, load in e-mail templates and extract and maintain reporting.
Ensure customer emails hit targets for sales and other metrics; produce and/or analyse reports and conduct tests to identify wins and opportunities.
Plan, develop and implement all eCRM/retention marketing activity:
o Manage and monitor the customer database, maximising database growth through targeting and segmented retention campaigns
o Devise and manage post purchase marketing and communications campaigns including life cycle communication programmes, up sell and cross sell offers post purchase, sales offers and promotions etc
o Report on and analyse CRM activity including monitoring database KPIs, email marketing KPIs, value of all campaigns, and customer lifetime value
If required, manage or support catalogue channel activity or other trial marketing activities, such as social, mobile etc

CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS:
Achieving commercial targets for Email Marketing & CRM this to include sales performance, profitability and repeat purchase rates.
Secure the development of the active customer base.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experienced e-mail marketing manager, or having this experience as part of a previous, wider general e-commerce role.
Enjoys selling product via marketing comms, especially email marketing.
Can demonstrate track record of successful email marketing campaigns.
Creative in a commercial sense.
Experience of managing customer lists and databases
Good academic qualifications including a degree (ideally in a marketing or e-commerce discipline) and Maths and English to GCSE grade B at a minimum.
Significant experience in CRM / retention marketing preferably in an e-commerce environment
Skilled in excel and ideally Access; experience with web analytics; comfortable specifying, performing and interpreting data analysis of customer performance.
Experience of day to day management of third party marketing agencies; ideally to include an ESP (Email Broadcaster)
A natural aptitude for insight into customer purchasing habits across broad product categories
Energetic and with a can do attitude.
