Job Description

Category Manager FMCG (food) Kent - £35K- £40K + car and benefits

This leading FMCG company has acquired a number of leading brands over recent years and specialises in a variety of foods.

They are looking for a Category Manager to lead the development of category strategy and delivery into customers. Main responsibilities are:

· Leading development and ongoing refreshment of category visions and strategies and 'go to market' toolbox
· Proactively guiding the business to act on category focused opportunities
· Developing and implementing a customer category engagement programme
· Managing a network of internal and external stakeholders to support understanding of company, customer and consumer needs
· Leading an annual structured review of category knowledge and insights and refreshment of category vision, insight models, strategies and tactical tools
· Co-ordinating regular customer alignment workshops to identify business opportunities
· Contributing to NPD project teams to ensure category issues and opportunities are considered from the earliest stage

Candidates should have the following skills an experience:

· Excellent experience within an FMCG role ideally in a Category role and preferably with time in National Accounts or retail buying
· Educated to degree level or equivalent
· Strong proven capability and practical experience of the category management process including familiarity with the use of continuous and ad-hoc research
· Ability to turn data and information into insights
· Experience of identifying business opportunities and identifying customer needs and matching drivers
· Experience of building customer business plans
· Experience of building category range recommendations, category merchandising and supply recommendations and building category promotion and price recommendations
· Experience of leading cross-functional project teams
· High levels of numeracy and attention to detail
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
