Do you have a passion for sports and leisure. This newly formed body is seeking a talented press officer to help build and manage the reputation and key messages of one of the country's leading spectator sports. Based in central London and reporting to a nurturing senior level communications professional, you will be responsible for:
- media relations - fielding enquiries as well as creating stories and building relationships with national, regional trade and specialist press
- liaising with the organisation's PR agency (who are fantastic and supportive) to provide information and support
-Issues management and some small amount of crisis management where appropriate, acting as a spokesperson and briefing relevant parties, keeping them abreast of information
- Liaison with the sports' stakeholders and relevant bodies
- Media monitoring
- Writing and developing press materials including press releases, work on the website and other communications material
Applicants must have proven PR experience gained either in house or in a PR/comms agency working on PR campaigns. Candidates with no proven PR experience cannot be considered.
Excellent communication skills are also required as you will need to possess the ability to work effectively with a broad cross section of people from journalists to stakeholders to govt ministers.
This is an amazing coveted in-house position with oodles of career opportunities and the chance to work in a fascinating and diverse sector. Experience of working within the sports industry would be desirable but certainly not essential. Please note, this is a mix of corporate, issues and consumer led work. It is not product placement led.
