This is a fantastic opportunity for an incredibly creative and talented Product Development and Design Director within home furnishings to join one of Britain's favourite retailers. Due to continued success within the marketplace, my client requires an experienced manager to formulate and implement the design strategy for home furnishings. This will be achieved through successful management of the design team and marketing services, graphic design and archives teams, providing commercial design, marketing and market research direction in line with brand strategy.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure that the agreed brand signature is consistently maintained.
- Manage a team of fifteen with six direct reports.
- Identify season home furnishings trends and present these to the home furnishings team to ensure that the team is up to date with the latest trends.
- Monitor competitor and market activity and undertake research trips and commission market research to keep self and teams up to date with the latest trends, techniques and customer preferences.
- Ensure that the design signature is accurately interpreted through the design and development stages for all product ranges to ensure synergies and consistency throughout.
- Working with the Head of Buying, Merchandising Director and Quality Operations Manager, ensure that balanced and commercial ranges are developed across home furnishings in line with the agreed divisional strategy.
- Provide direction to the marketing services, graphic design and archives team.
- Ensure that the design and development critical path for home furnishings is strictly adhered to so that products are developed on time.
- Plan and forecast and manage the costs for the creative department in line with cost centre budgets.
In order to successfully face up to this challenging opportunity, applicants will need product management or range building experience gained within a design environment, ideally within a high end retailer. You will preferably have experience of managing a graphic design/CAD/archives department.
