Job Description

Global Product Marketing Manager

LOCATION: Basingstoke/UK

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Product Development, the incumbent will be responsible for driving the global growth of the Gems pressure (sensor and switch) product portfolio by developing winning product plans. These plans will include target market assessment, product requirement specifications, competitive evaluation, and life cycle management of the product portfolio. This role will require the candidate to segment the marketplace, develop application penetration plans and manage product, placement, price, and promotion of the pressure product line.

Danaher Sensors and Controls ("DSC') manufactures and markets products that sense, measure and control temperature, position, quantity, time, level and flow in the Process Automation and Factory Automation Markets. DSC also manufactures and markets a variety of other related niche products and accessories. The group employs approximately 2,400 associates at locations in North America, Europe and Asia. Products are sold directly to OEM Customers and through distributors with annual revenues of approximately $0.5 Billion.

Gems Sensors globally employs in excess of 600 people, has manufacturing plants in USA, UK and China. Current sales exceed $120Million with primary market focus being OHV, Medical and Water related industries.

Gems Sensors Europe, designs, develops, manufactures and markets a range of pressure, level and flow products with 40% of production being exported worldwide. Gems Sensors Europe is a self-contained business unit including one manufacturing facility in the UK and sales offices in continental Europe. It is also the global design center for pressure transducers products. Gems Sensors Europe employs 140 associates and generates 30m$ revenue.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • o Drive the product marketing process by developing product requirement specifications and managing the product life cycle.
  • o Understand and articulate product and customer requirements
  • o Analyze product placement
  • o Conduct primary and secondary market research
  • o Conduct internal and external risk assessments, and competitive evaluation
  • o Maintain continuous studies of market activities
  • o Provide customer input and sales management support to the new product development
  • o Support the sales process through sales tools and product development
  • o Create leads by finding other companies who could use application
  • o Deploy leads in an actionable way to Product Sales Specialists
  • o Develop target applications for product lines
  • o Promote the sale of the product lines
  • o Develop and implement strategic product line plans
  • o Participate in strategic planning sessions
  • o Annually develop and propose market objectives
  • o Develop product promotion plan
  • o Work with marketing communications group to execute promotion plan
  • o Own product line pricing
  • o Research and determine market pricing for product line
  • o Develop product line pricing strategy
  • o Work with product sales specialist to implement vertical marketing initiatives (VMI's) for key product lines
  • o Develop and document a vertical marketing initiative process that delivers sustainable, repeatable top line results
  • o Deploy VMI's across product lines
  • o Train associates in development and deployment of VMI initiatives
  • o Collaborate with engineering to develop a technology roadmap for Gems
  • o Develop a sustainable process to identify relevant emerging technologies that have the potential to create value for our customers
  • o Develop a roadmap to define timing and scope of new technology platform development and commercialization
