Job Description

Marketing Manager

Salary - £30k - £35k depending on experience

Overview

Footprint is an ambitious travel publishing company seeking a Marketing Manager capable of building on the foundations of the existing operation. The main aim of the role is to significantly grow the business by driving awareness of the brand and the company’s products with consumers.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is pivotal to the growth and profitability of Footprint’s business and the person in this position will be a key member of the management team, involved with strategic and operational issues across the business.

Skills and Experience

We are looking for a person capable of both devising, then practically implementing successful marketing strategies, so need someone with a range of professional, hands-on marketing skills.

We are seeking a candidate with experience running a marketing operation that spans PR, retail, web and direct to consumer activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with consumer brands and will have a proven track record of devising and delivering effective marketing campaigns.

The importance of the digital world – for marketing communications, as a sales channel, and as a product platform – makes significant on-line marketing experience and skills an essential requirement for this role.

The person in this position needs to take a structured approach to work that is focused upon results and will be motivated by the achievement of targets. He or she will work well as part of a team and have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• General Marketing

o Manage the brand and all marketing communications to consumers, retail customers and partners
o Devise and deliver effective marketing campaigns that are commercially successful, working across a variety of channels to support the brand and the publishing programme
o Manage the budget to ensure that marketing is cost effective
o Develop relationships and devise beneficial activity with partner organisations
o Liaise with US marketing operation to ensure that effective campaigns are developed, opportunities spotted and results maximised in tandem
o Provide marketing input in to publishing strategy

• Web & Digital

o Drive the development of the company’s web offering to consumers
o Develop the company’s own web site to maximise its effectiveness through: use of search engine optimised content; compelling commercial offers; community features; links to appropriate partner organisations; delivery of advertising revenue
o Lead the development of the company’s digital content offering with particular focus on ensuring that a healthy return on investment is made and that product is available through appropriate channels
o Manage Footprint’s relationship with Amazon, Google and other digital customers to ensure that the company’s profile, revenue and profits are maximised
o Work with partners to strengthen Footprint’s profile and broaden reach to consumers

• Public Relations and Publicity

o Manage 3rd party PR agent to ensure effectiveness of activity
o Ensure that PR plans fit within broader marketing plans

• Direct to consumer

o Develop consumer database and implement direct marketing communications programme
o Lead the organisation of Footprint’s presence at consumer events and exhibitions

• Retail Marketing

o Lead the organisation of Footprint’s presence at trade events
o Work with retail customers and sales teams to devise and implement effective retail marketing campaigns
o Deliver sales and marketing material

• Management

o As a senior employee, contribute to the effective management and cohesion of the whole of Footprint’s business and strive to help the company achieve its goals
