National law firm is looking for someone to lead their bid offering both strategically and operationally. Similar experience in professional services would be prefered.

About the Role
The purpose of the role is to lead the Bid Team both strategically and operationally. The Bid Team manages both reactive and proactive bid opportunities with existing clients and approved prospects. To ensure alignment with the firm strategy the firm has implemented a new approach to bid management and using and improving upon this the Head of Bids will play a key part in helping to achieve the firm's integrated services and trusted business advisor ambitions. For opportunities with certain key clients the Head of Bids will project manage the bid process from receipt to submission. This will involve working closely with Partners and other members of the Marketing & Business Development team, as well as external design agencies where more creative input is required. The Head of Bids will also be a member of the Marketing & Business Development Strategy Group.
The key objectives for the Head of Bids will be to:
· Ensure that bids are produced to the highest standards and are tailored to the audience
and their specific requirements
· Represent accurately key sales messages and differentiating factors in line with the firm's stated strategy
· Provide effective mentoring and coaching support for Bid Team members, to assist with their personal and professional development and to share best practice
· Managing the team on a day to day basis as well as performance management, appraisals, objective setting, development and recruitment.
· Develop and implement an efficient and effective process of collating, storing and maintaining high quality boilerplate material and credentials
· Implement an effective 'bid / no bid' checklist to ensure that the bid team is focussed on
only supporting activity aligned with the firm's stated strategy.
