Working closely with our Retail businesses youll be part of a team which will innovate and look at things from a totally new perspective to explore energy efficiency and low carbon technologies for the future. Job Purpose

Ignite is a new venture setup to develop and take to market the Next Generation of Products and Services. The Customer and Market Insights Manager is responsible for understanding and identifying new market space for Residential and SME customers, developing a new innovation needs based segmentation and supporting the development and test and learn of differentiated customer propositions through the management of effective customer and market insight.

Key Activities
  • Develop, evolve and manage a new needs based segmentation for the markets, identifying new and emerging segments.
  • To manage development of market insight that will enable breakthrough thinking on market developments to deliver next generation propositions for Residential and SME customers.
  • To plan and manage all customer and market insight related activities including proactive monitoring of new market developments, changing customer needs, breaking trends and competitor behaviour / changes.
  • Support test and learn, customer research for new ventures in development.
Main responsibilities of role
  • To analyse complex data, extract essential insights and challenge commonplace view.
  • To generate new insights and fresh approaches to industry issues, demonstrating breadth of view and medium to long-term thinking.
  • To be able to select and prioritise key insights from fast moving and new markets and develop the supporting market research/insight framework to enable their development.
  • To manage internal relationships across other marketing functions to ensure propositions are successfully researched and supported throughout the development process.
  • To engage market research agencies to carry out research and draw out key insights.
Key skill requirements
  • Significant experience in researching new customer markets.
  • Experience in providing insight to developing new commercial product and service concepts using a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Content knowledge within strategic theme areas, e.g. Micro-generation, Smart Meters, business model innovation and design, energy efficiency, low carbon.
  • Significant experience in market research and insight development.
  • Experience in the management of external research agencies.
  • Retail experience in other industries and new emerging markets desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Drive, determination and resilience with energy, enthusiasm and a can do attitude and behaviours.
  • Track record of delivering real insights and Big match temperament.
  • Mindset good balance of strategic, creative and commercial.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management with ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and influencing skills demonstrated with both internal and external audiences.
  • Track record of operating successfully at all levels within a large organisation and influencing at board level.
  • Customer focus and Entrepreneurial mindset.
