Job Description

My client has an urgent requirement for a temporary Communications Officer to start as soon as possible and to run at least until the end of the year.  Reporting into the Head of Communications you will be responsible for promoting the organisation in a proactive way internally and externally.  Key responsibilities include producing an internal magazine and other publications; liaising with designers and printers; writing press releases; planning and organising large conferences and events and researching and preparing media briefings for key people prior to interviews and media broadcastings.  You will have broad experience of PR and journalism and be comfortable working on both internal and external communications.   You will need strong writing skills and the ability to make complicated messages simple and easy to understand.  Previous experience of working in a local authority would be helpful but is not essential.
