My client a Government agency is looking to recruit a New Media Executive for a short term contract.
Job Purpose;
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications the New Media Executive will manage new e-PR and e-communication tools available for the organisations range of communication delivery. This role will provide practical support for video, audio and online production for all external and internal communication materials.
This will include;
- Providing technical advice and production guidance to all Communications team members on translating communication messages into effective video, audio or online materials.
- Manage and implement vodcasts (videos) podcasts (audio) on a wide range of technology platforms to ensure maximum coverage for the organisations communications. Monitor and update as required
- Deliver the organisation's core messages through harnessing technology solutions, ensuring that interactive content on the website (extranet and intranet) and other relevant websites is consistently updated with regular news and events.
- Manage all recording and editing equipment liaise with external video and production facility houses as required.
- Provide recommendations on other websites, broadcasts, audio channels and platforms.
- Preparation of briefing and writing production schedules for work to be outsourced, commissioning photographers and other contractors including facility houses.
- Act as the main point of contact and advise all staff on the production of new media materials, how they can be best utilised for maximum impact.
- Exemplify a teamwork approach where exchanging ideas, materials and approaches is key to achieving successful outcomes and ownership of the product and media material is communal.
- Gain authority for location work, recorded material, recording images or sound by obtaining copyright clearance where relevant.
Skills & experience needed;
- Proven skills as a video-journalist such as planning and producing video stories and reports. Re-edit for radio or audio and then upload onto websites and other platforms.
- Knowledge of what a good 'story' is and consists of for a TV news or feature report.
- Demonstrable professional standard of video production skills including filming and recording using digital camera equipment for user generated content.
- Demonstrable writing and editing skills for scripts, copy and other written material that needs to be packaged for delivery.
- Strong video and audio hands-on editing using professional and other software on PC's or Macs.
- Ability to convert original material for uploading onto the website.
- Strong knowledge of website technology, software, language and to engage with IT and other technical experts.
- Solid knowledge of using web software.
- Demonstrable creative talent for selecting telling images, soundbites and key material for the organisation.
- Overseeing the producing, writing and posting of Blogs
- Up to date knowledge of relevant technology platforms
- Knowledge of digital photography and how to record, convert and edit photos.
- Knowledge of copyright infringement and laws, ethics of recording material, obtaining written permissions, police and council regulations regarding filming.
