An interim position has come about with an immediate start for a marketing and communications professional with senior relevant experience of public sector or B2B marketing at senior level, alongside the leadership attributes and motivational style to direct, enthuse and energise a busy team, guiding and coaching them through a period of substantial change and stretching demands.
 
The role is likely to run for 6 months although this may be subject to extension.
 
You must have:
 
Experience
 
Relevant senior marketing and communications experience in either the public sector ie Public Sector to Public Sector or in a Business-to-Business environment.
A track record in leading and developing teams, matrix structures and the demands of conflicting priorities
Experience in customer and supplier management relationship tools
Understanding & experience of UK public sector structure, hierarchy, responsibilities, objectives & targets
Experience of delivering broad-based functional advice / support and of delivering projects, with a good understanding of project management methodologies & techniques  

 
The job holder is also likely to have:
 
A detailed understanding of a value-driven culture
An understanding of public sector procurement legislation and procedures
Detailed familiarity with a cost recovery business model.
Membership of professional marketing body (CIM, IDM etc)
Willingness to travel
 
 
Main responsibilities are as follows:
 
The post is primarily responsible for developing, agreeing and implementing an overall marketing strategy that encompasses a range of appropriate customer propositions delivered via a wide number of marketing channels.
To prepare, agree and manage the marketing budget, monitoring spend and reporting progress on key performance measures using monthly variance reporting tools.
To be the thought leader and specialist expert in marketing  thus ensuring that maximum benefit is achieved through our marketing and communications activities.
To ensure that individual marketing activity plans are complimentary to and have a relationship with the overall corporate marketing strategy.
To mentor and develop technical communication experts placed within the  teams to ensure consistency of communications to internal and external stakeholders.
 
To carry out, within 2 months, a comprehensive review of individual section marketing activity plans to ensure compliance and adherence to the corporate marketing strategy and to check that planned activity is complimentary to annual business plan for 2008/09 and the achievement of  savings targets.
To deliver, by year end, the project that delivers a new brand to support our new name with a revised look and feel to represent our new way of working.
To deliver, by year end, the project that delivers a revised on line marketing strategy to support a new web site, intranet and on line trading capability.
To complete a review of internal and external communications tactics to ensure that they are complimentary to our line term strategic objectives.
