Our client, a high profile public sector body, is looking for a freelance press officer.
The five-strong press office is first point of contact for ministers and journalists on major reactive issues. They provide quick and accurate responses to all breaking news stories and explain Government policies to national journalists and broadcasters, as well as specialists, on a daily basis. They brief ministers on priority issues and deal with interview bids. The press office operates on a shift basis and the successful candidate will be required to fit in with this schedule.
The ideal candidate will be results focused, resilient and possess excellent news sense coupled with top-notch media handling skills. You will ideally have experience of advising Ministers, senior officials and stakeholder organisations; be able to act as a spokesperson where relevant and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience of working with national media is essential. Experience of the education sector is desirable.
