An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading law firm as Head of Bids, managing a team of eight people.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a law firm committed to growth and with ambitious plans to
modernise the way that it manages relationships with clients. The successful candidate will play a central role in helping the firm to achieve its objectives and influence the way that it goes about doing so.
Unlike with many firms, the Marketing & Business Development Group enjoys excellent visibility and reputation within the business. It is highly regarded by management and is playing a central role in driving the firm's strategy.
The purpose of the role is to lead the Bid Team both strategically and operationally. The Bid Team manages both reactive and proactive bid opportunities with existing clients and approved prospects. To ensure alignment with the firm strategy we have implemented a new approach to bid management and using and improving upon this the Head of Bids will play a key part in helping to achieve firms integrated services and trusted business advisor ambitions.
The key objectives for the Head of Bids will be to:
- Ensure that bids are produced to the highest standards and are tailored to the audience and their specific requirements
- Provide effective mentoring and coaching support for Bid Team members, to assist with their personal and professional development and to share best practice
- Managing the team on a day-to-day basis as well as performance management, appraisals, objective setting, development and recruitment.
- Implement an effective 'bid / no bid' checklist to ensure that the bid team is focused on only supporting activity aligned with the firm's stated strategy
- Sound commercial awareness and understanding of business-to-business relationships
- Excellent people management, mentoring, coaching and development skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact and build effective relationships with a broad range of people from across the firm
- An advanced knowledge of general DTP principles (including layout, format, creation and manipulation of graphics and colour usage)
- Excellent computer literacy including MS Word and PowerPoint
You will have excellent experience of bid management and team leadership, likely to be gained through 5+ years leadership experience, preferably within a professional services environment. You will demonstrate:
