2020 International Growth Strategy - Global Consumer Business Undergraduate Summer Internship

The International Growth Optimization (IGO) team is a central strategy and implementation team supporting American Express’s consumer business across 22 international markets. Reporting to the head of the international consumer business, the group leads the development and supports local market implementation of strategic initiatives that drive profitable, sustainable revenue growth. The team is responsible for:

· Identifying new revenue growth initiatives that align to the American Express goals

· Ensuring effective execution of strategic, multi-market growth initiatives through partnerships with local markets and global central teams

· Delivering data driven recommendations to enable senior leadership decision-making and resource prioritization

· Developing effective market prioritization framework across markets and with key stakeholders to increase investment efficiency and effectiveness

Our well-established Summer Internship Programme will provide high-performing students with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in projects that have strategic, operational and financial significance to the company. The Summer Internship Programme commences in June 2020 for 10 weeks. It consists of the following components:

* Introduction to American Express through an induction day and training sessions
* Meaningful projects which will have real business impact
* Regular Speaker Series with senior management
* Social and networking events
* Structured performance management process and regular feedback

What type of work can you expect to do in International Growth Optimisation at American Express?

· Support the development of innovative, profitable, customer-centric business growth strategies across multiple global markets

· Help with providing value-added financial assessment and analytics to facilitate well-informed and effective decision-making

· Support and bring analytical rigour to strategic projects related to uncovering transformational AXP growth opportunities

· Conduct robust external market analysis across the technology-commerce-marketing spectrum to determine best-in-class benchmarks and identify opportunities to power future growth

Collaborate with internal and external partners across various geographies and functions

* A minimum A Level requirement (or equivalent) of AAB and a predicted 2:1 degree or international equivalent
