Job Purpose
Role Definition

The role sits within the Banking & Corporate Finance Coverage team within Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) in the UK.

The Banking & Corporate Finance team’s main objective is to manage and support the bank’s SCIB client base in connection with all Santander banking products.

Role Specifics

The Banking and Corporate Finance Multinationals Team is a high performing, integrated team where you will gain experience by performing a wide range of tasks, and gain to different client sectors and countries; giving you continuous learning and development opportunities.

As an Analyst of the Banking & Corporate Finance Multinationals Team, you will be responsible for supporting the Associates, VPs and MDs in the team in preparing Business Plans, helping and coordinating CMS in carrying out KYC processes, preparing credit committee papers, arranging meetings with clients, preparing client materials & business opportunities analysis, as well as internal analyses of clients and income earned against budget. You will also help the Multinationals Team with internal tasks as and when requested.

Regulated Activity

The role will include producing client facing documents and pitch books, it may also involve working on deals, in conjunction with senior stakeholders within Banking & Corporate Finance, across the full suite of SCIB products. The role may also necessitate face to face interaction with clients.

Also may be involved in deal tree situations.

The role requires me to hold Certification for Santander London Branch (SLB) as you will be completing regulated activity which requires certification under the Senior Managers & Certification Regime. The activity is documented within either the referral agreement or MSLA and booking model policy, agreed between Santander UK and SLB. In carrying out activities you will operate within regulatory guidelines, including in relation to banking reform legislation and adhere to both Santander UK and SLB policies as appropriate.


• Responsible for contributing to overall client satisfaction and revenue targets by supporting the Multinational Team, the Head of B&CF UK and Global Head of Multinationals as required.

• Analysts in the Multinational Team will be expected to help generate business ideas to drive revenue and growth.

Non Financial

Client responsibilities

• Analysts in the Multinational Team will play a pivotal role in supporting the execution of client assignments, ensuring deliverables are made with high quality standards and strong attention to detail.

• Budget preparation for the Multinational Team (as part of BAU assignments), working with Product Groups and Countries, and on-going Pipeline updates

• Credit Lines: preparation of business plans in conjunction with credit proposals

• Prepare Banking & Corporate Finance / CIB internal management information reporting

• Marketing and overall activity co-ordination for all Multinational clients, including developing a thorough understanding of clients and their individual needs.


• Monitor CeR / REC consumption of clients in portfolio

• Monitor any other risks and report through the appropriate channels with particular focus on operational and conduct risk


• Guide CMS and involve them early to ensure completion of all KYC forms (including CIF, EMIR, MiFID,etc) is done on a timely manner. Help CMS in obtaining relevant documentation when such information is not publicly available prior to transaction execution.

• For clients with a KYC, support CMS and other Onboarding teams in KYC refresh as required.

People Management
The role has no direct reports, however, the successful candidate may be required to work with, support and train any interns and newly appointed junior members of Multinational Team.

Qualifications/Accreditations/Professional Membership & Level

Strong analytical, numerical, modelling skills are essential and required.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with specific ability to communicate concepts and ideas concisely and defend their validity.
Ability to comfortably interact with people in a professional and mature manner.
High levels of attention to detail, diligence and conscientiousness, ensuring quality of client deliverables.
Self-motivated, tenacious and able to work with high degree of independence.
Excellent technology skills with superior Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, and ability to quickly learn new software applications.
Creativity, problem solving skills, flexibility in approach and the ability to work with members of multiple product groups at the same time. Ability to analyse complex client financial objectives.
Broad experience of the main product areas of SCIB, namely; Corporate Finance, GTB, FS&A, RSG and DCM is preferred.
Strong organizational skills are required
Ability to comfortably interact and present to internal meetings including committees in a professional and mature manner.
Fluency in English is essential. Spanish / Portuguese / Others is a plus.
Ability to develop logical and well-reasoned argument to influence and motivate others.


A Degree (or equivalent), preferably in a numerical discipline such as economics or finance, is preferred but we will consider talented individuals with relevant experience or skills for roles.
