Assistant Venue Presentation Manager – Competitive Salary – Cheltenham racecourse

The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Venue Presentation Manager to assist our Venue Presentation Manager operationally at the Cheltenham racecourse. This role will also have a heavy admin aspect to it and the successful candidate will be responsible for all admin tasks in the venue.

You will ensure the profitable operation of the venue in line with established budget, complying with all legislative requirements at all times. In order to do this, knowledge of all over venue operations is essential. Furthermore, you will maintain customer satisfaction and relationships with customer decision makers, instigating operational improvements as necessary. The key responsibilities of an Assistant Venue Presentation Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Directing, controlling, motivating and encouraging all colleagues to complete their designated duties in an efficient and courteous manner to client expectations and maximising profitability
  • Conduct regular briefings to ensure compliance with all Health and Safety and Company policies and procedures and actively promote safety awareness
  • Ensuring that all aspects of operations are fully accounted for e.g. vehicles, machinery, colleague numbers, daily work schedules etc.
  • Attaining a good working knowledge of the company’s management system (CMS), scheduling staff as per event forecasts and ensuring that any proposed expenditure is tightly controlled
  • Assisting and liaising the Venue Presentation Manager in creating event forecasts; and with regards to the reporting of costing and venue budgets and related matters
  • Ensuring that all colleagues are fully trained and proficient in the operation of equipment and methods of work applicable to the venue

The Person

The key skills and qualities of an Assistant Venue Presentation Manager:

  • Excellent client and customer service skills, having management cleaning experience gained within the hospitality sector
  • Strong people management skills, able to run teams of 20 (up to 100 plus on event days)
  • An appreciation and compliance in HR, ER, OH&S and EEO issues
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, good IT skills and a proactive nature
  • Excellent communication skills, both in written and oral English
