As BD Executive (or Senior BD Executive, depending on experience), you will be responsible for planning and implementing a wide range of business development activities. This will include working with the M&BD Director and Partners on writing, implementing, delivering and monitoring BD tasks and activities which support and drive forward the plans for the firm and each department.
With a heavy emphasis on working with the firm's business services departments (corporate and commercial, commercial property, employment and dispute resolution), you will also be responsible for implementing and supporting private client initiatives as and when required and being a champion for all marketing activities generally. Working with the senior staff, you'll create and deliver initiatives that support and help drive forward the marketing and BD initiatives identified in the firm's business plan, as well as plans for each department plans, and any specific sub-plans for niche areas, creating initiatives that raise the general profile of the practice with key commercial targets and referrers. You'll support client focused initiatives, and lead the seminars and generate content for newsletters, working with the marketing team to manage the production and distribution. You'll be the first point of contact for all pitches, delivering client focused and tailored pitches and presentations, creating and maintaining a firm wide capability statement/pitch document and look for and encourage cross selling opportunities between all departments. You will undertake strategic research on clients, targets, referrers and competitors and support the MBD Director on managing, creating and submitting directory and award submissions and also work with marketing colleagues to develop the firm's use of Social Media as business development tools. With support from other team members, this role is responsible for creating and implementing internal and external/client events and ensuring they are delivered to the right audience efficiently and on budget.
You will have experience of working in a marketing or business development in a professional services environment essential, preferably in the legal sector, with experience of planning and implementing strategic plans, and the ability to plan/implement a variety of events from seminars to organising corporate hospitality at sporting and cultural events, juggling multiple projects simultaneously and under pressure. You'll have the ability to effectively delegate and work with other team members, input data and produce reports from a marketing database, coach fee earners on marketing and BD. You'll be an excellent communicator with great people skills, and innovative and creative when planning events with excellent attention to detail.
