A leading international law firm is hiring a BD Manager who will play a key role in supporting the Corporate practice at what is an exciting time for the practice, the global BD function and the wider firm. It involves a large amount of liaison with fee earners, fellow business development colleagues and business services professionals within the firm's growing international network. Pitching will represent a key element of the role.

Main responsibilities will include:
  • Develop strong relationships with the partners and fee earners in the London Corporate energy practice and across BD so that you can effectively connect your practices with the wider network.
  • Prepare and implement business development plans and provide advice to the energy partners to develop and implement their business development strategy.
  • Liaise with partners and BD colleagues across the network on drafting practice and firm-wide pitches, proposals and capability statements
  • Project manage all aspects of tender responses, pitches and capability statements, including drafting material and obtaining input from various contributors, run rehearsals of pitch teams and ensure pitch debriefs are conducted.
  • Promote and participate in the client listening programme
  • Manage at least one priority London Corporate relationship
  • Undertake research and analysis to identify targets and take responsibility for targeting initiatives
  • Project manage the development of marketing collateral
  • Prepare legal directories and award submissions for the practice
  • Liaise with the PR and communications team on media and PR opportunities
  • Manage the content and development of various business development databases
  • Facilitate budgeting for specific events/campaigns and ensure suggested BD activities reflect best return on investment for the practice
  • Analyse outcomes against costs and recommend changes as appropriate.
The BD Manager will be degree qualified or equivalent and will have proven marketing and BD experience gained whilst working in a partnership environment. Having a professional marketing qualification, prior experience of CRM and experience of working within a Corporate practice is highly desirable. Ideally candidates will have some energy exposure or at least have an active interest in the area.
