A global management consultancy has a maternity cover contract opportunity for an experienced business development professional to join its Leeds office in a role focused on leading business development and marketing activities for Leeds, Newcastle and Teeside, in a way which promotes market profile, develops prospective and key client relationships and enables revenue growth.
The role holder will work with the firm's senior leadership team to drive growth through positioning, bidding, brand enhancement, pipeline generation and key account management. You will occupy a key position within the team and will be responsible for driving growth through the development of clear strategies and tactical support of marketing campaigns, communications, bidding and key client activity. This is a hands-on role but you will need to lead strategically, retaining an ability to see the bigger picture along with a commitment to excellence and a determination to always deliver. The Business Development Manager will work with strategic leads, sector specialists, and the wider UK business generation team to develop and implement regional Business Generation plans and subsequently support Sector leads to execute plans with regional teams including identifying key accounts and future targets, undertaking market research and championing opportunity pipelines and marketing activities. The successful applicant will work with regional Key Client Leads to understand client business drivers, decisions to in-source or out-source, support development of client propositions and win work. This will include providing hands-on support to convert opportunities and contributing to proposition development and brand enhancing activities. You will be expected to champion the firm's bid to win process, supporting large and complex bids, advising on bid strategy and execution and proactively monitoring and influencing conversion of bids through analysis and disseminating reporting and capturing best practice. On the marketing side, there will be broad strategic responsibilities including the development of brand and events plans and the provision of support and advisory regarding awards, media relations, social media, collateral, marketing channels and associated profile raising activities with the Global Business Generation function.
You must be a bright graduate or equivalent and a driven and pro-active BD specialist, with experience across business development, marketing and bidding gained within a professional services firm, ideally within the built environment. The Business Development Manager must be able to communicate credibly and effectively about both the infrastructure market and marketing and BD best practice and engage with and influence Board level stakeholders and external contacts. Other prerequisites include a positive 'can do' approach and the abilities to project manage and deliver to deadlines whilst working under pressure.
