Reporting to the Director of Business Development, this leading legal firm is looking for a Business Development Manager to join its BD team. This is an exciting role, with primary responsibility within the BD team for new business, both in relation to formal tenders and the pipeline process. The firm is happy to consider both full-time and part-time candidates for this role.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the management and coordination of bids and tenders. This includes assessing viability of opportunities, scoping phase, preparation of proposal documents, pitching and client presentations, feedback and transition planning and maintaining pitch library. The role holder work with fee earners to prepare fee quotes, retainer arrangements and other fixed fee proposals and maintain library of pricing information and assist the Director of Business Development with larger, strategically important tender opportunities. In addition, you will develop and manage the firm's new business pipeline.
This role is responsible for identifying and progressing key prospects and working with fee earners to help them build relationships with individual contacts. This will include in depth research into pension schemes and their employers. The Business Development Manager will attend industry events to identify and develop relationships with prospects as appropriate and monitor those firms who offer procurement services in pensions and develop relationships where possible. You will also develop and manage a range of tools to assist fee earners in the sales process, coordinate any sales training for professional staff, track and record all referred business to the firm, providing reports when needed and work closely with others in the BD team. You will monitor and report on the firm's competitors, coordinate and draft the firm's submissions for the legal directories and for various industry awards and surveys.
You will have previous relevant experience in a Business Development role, preferably within a large law firm or accountancy practice, with experience of drafting proposal documents and running the tender process. The Business Development Manager will be computer proficient with a working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, have strong written and oral communication, research and analysis, organisational and presentation skills. Enthusiastic and adaptable, you will be calm under pressure, proactive and meet deadlines whilst using your own initiative.
